Mónica Lopes Tomás da Silva was born in Portugal in September 1987 where she had the first years of music education. At the age of 18 she accepted a full sports scholarship (tennis) to study in United States. She graduated from Appalachian State University in Piano Performance in 2010 under the coordination of Dr. Rodney Reynerson. Back in Portugal, she started teaching Piano in several Music Conservatories, and studying Orchestral Conducting at Lille Conservatory in France with Maestro Jean-Sébastien Béreau. Meanwhile did several masterclasses with: Jorma Panula, Mark Stringer, Jin Waang and Horia Andreescu, among others. In 2013 she accepted a scholarship to study Orchestral Conducting at Liszt Ferencs Academy in Budapest. During this time she organized concerts and created several ensembles with friends to perform pieces such as: Double Concertos by Vivaldi, Le Bal Masqué by Poulenc, the Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings by Poulenc, Sinfonia Concertante by Mozart among others. In 2014 she was one of the 8 finalist for Orchestral Conducting course at Paris Conservatory. She graduated from the Liszt Ferencs Academy in 2016, under surveillance of Ligeti András and Medveczky Ádám.
